New website for Cards for Good Causes

December was a busy time for one of our new clients, the lovely ‘Cards for Good Causes’, who are the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation. They sell beautiful Christmas cards for around 300 charities in their nationwide network of pop-up charity Christmas card shops and (this is where we come in) for 34 charities on their e-commerce website.

They came to us to refresh their online presents… sorry… presence… and improve the user experience for online customers and those visiting the site to find their nearest pop-up shop.  Their old website had become a bit dated and they wanted a new design and customer experience that would appeal to their audience and be clear and easy to use.  The site also needed to be based on a robust platform, with an easy-to-use ‘back office’ admin area so they could easily manage their orders, and importantly, perform well in search engines.

We think (and we’re sure they’d agree) they came to the right place!  We set about creating their new site, firstly working on the structure and user journey side of things, before looking at the design. Working closely to their brand colours (not surprisingly red features as the main accent colour!) we created an easy-to-use search facility so site visitors could search card designs and charities to quickly find the cards that are right for them.  The resulting design is fresh, clean and vibrant, using the santa from the brand to good effect as a ‘signpost’ through the site and shopping process.

Functionally, the e-commerce solution we integrated allows for a seamless shopping experience, and links off to a secure payment gateway to take payments for added reassurance to shoppers. There’s also a useful ‘Find a shop’ search facility, allowing customers to… well… find their nearest shop! and view it on a map if they prefer to buy offline.  The admin area provides Cards for Good Causes with an easy to use sales management and reporting system.

The site went live in December and the client (and their staff and customers) are really pleased with the result: “I would like to thank you for all your work on the website – it was really good to get the site up and running before the season ended and we are so pleased with it.  We have also had some very positive comments from our area staff who think it is great.”

We loved working on this site, not only as it’s a great cause to be involved with (and they’re a lovely bunch of people to work with), but also because it was also an enjoyable design project for the creative guys to get their teeth into.

We wish them continued success and it goes without saying, next year, why not buy your charity Christmas cards from them? And here comes the not-so-shameless site ‘plug’… www.cardsforcharity.co.uk
