Helvetica - The Movie
Not exactly a Hollywood blockbuster in the making but a movie about Helvetica has been created and Directed by Gary Hustwit as reported by The Guardian.
If Hustwit looks chuffed, it’s easy to understand why. His first attempt at a full-length documentary, shot on a credit-card budget and made up of interviews with designers and typographers, has somehow become a global phenomenon.
Helvetica is just one of those fonts that does the job. Nothing fancy, but oh so adaptable to so many different applications. Dare I Say, the Helvetica Neue family is one of my favourite families of all time - despite it’s over use in design and advertising.

Having looked into the browser compatibility scale of what fonts are most supported it looks like Helvetica is rarely overlooked as a standard. And in this case we see what subtle differences do when looking at the history of the print press/as having an impact on the overall result of entire national moods during war for example.
It seems people want to be enthralled with what their looking at online so what keeps them coming is the simple remembrance of an image which makes them feel comfortable. A reminder that this is not “greek” and I identify with this not feeling like a “geek”. A linguist would not be so bold to worry with what a particular scribe or poet’s scribble looked like as long as he/she found the value in their words. With the internet its more simple for the searcher to look at the cover unlike someone bent on finding out basic structure. We work easier still not thinking were hooked into a world of hypertext and complexity but putting your head down only makes you miss the show.
