Wednesday Is The Best Day For Your E-Mail Campaign

That’s according to new research from Emailcenter UK as found via E-Consultancy.

E-mail marketing campaigns sent out on a Wednesday are more successful than those sent on other days of the week.. although most British electronic marketers (almost 25%) deliver e-mails on Thursdays.

The data, posted on the Emailcenter Blog, does seem to miss out the weekend though.

Rubbish I know, but I read once that Sunday is best day for actual purchase click-throughs in the B2C market. I’d love to substantiate that but it was a long time ago…. sorry.

Web Ad spend Overtakes Press Ad Spend

Online advertising spending has jumped 41.2% to £2.01bn during 2006, a report by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers says today (BBC).

This see web advertising overtaking newspaper ads for the first time.

Despite online advertising taking an 11.4% market share of all advertising spend, it was still just over half that for TV advertising.

During 2006 however, TV advertising spend fell 4.7% to £3.9bn.

Is this the start of the internet taking over as the mainstream advertising Channel?

E-Mail Marketing According To Mrs Doyle

More slightly depressing reading (via Retail Bulletin) when it comes to people’s privacy on the web:

A study has revealed that 37% of Retailers are not complying with the EU Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications, more than 3 years after it became law in the UK in December 2003.

Perhaps these guys think that if they keep trying to sell their messages AT people, they will surrender into buying something?

This reminds way of using e-mail reminds me of Mrs. Doyle From Father Ted:

Ya will, ya will, ya will, won’t ya?

Prefer me a bit of Permission Marketing and Campaign Monitor!

Using Topical Content - Part 2

I mentioned I would give an example of using topical content.

  1. Woke on on Sunday to check out Google News for Beauty News for the beauty blog.
  2. Found a new (very at the time) press release about a new beauty drink called Lumaé and blogged about it straight away, making sure I used the right words. Luckily for me, a very distinctive brand name.
  3. By Thursday - top of Google.Com after Digg Reference Article.
  4. Traffic: 11.69% of all search terms into the website since Wednesday.

This Week At The Escape

Adam_3
So, Adam started this week and has already made a massive impression - mostly for his use of the word MILF in a blog post.

He has also managed to single-handedly drive thousands of visitors to three websites we are working on with a new blend of online marketing - social media marketing.

Adam is the first Escapee to come from our recruitment drive - we’re always on the look-out.

Leanne has decided to leave us - last week next week - so massive good luck to her in her new role. She’s been great for us and the next person has some shoes to fill.

Dan has been busy trying to find a replacement. That is in between prentending he is still a teenager on his Team Escape Trials Bike:

Teamescape

Meanwhile, we have decided to be towntriotic - Basingstoke is quite good now don’t you know!

Threshers Thrashing - Round 2

It was billed as a major problem for Threshers back in December, or was it?

Offering a discount to ’staff’ and ‘friends and family’ that got out of hand and everyone taking advantage of the ‘leak’.

Well, £15m better off for their troubles, Threshers must be laughing about that ‘mistake’.

That said, I am still convinced that some of the early adoption was down to the blogging  status of Hugh MacLeod at Gaping Void (who has a huge following) and his affiliation with the wine brand Stormhoek.

So, it’s three months down the line and it’s happening again - Threshers 2. Thing to remember - Grease become a cult film / Grease 2 was a turkey.
