The Daily Slurp Site Of The Day

Siteoftheday_1

It’s like winning an award and brings a tear to the eye. Nice that all the hard work paid off as we made site of the day at The Daily Slurp (24/10/06).

In all seriousness it’s good to get recognised - we even had the Managing Director of another Web Agency call last week specifically to tell us how good our site was. A big agency as well.

5 Ways To Optimise Your Web Design

Nice piece here from Neil Patel

  1. Become the visitor
  2. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication
  3. Content is King
  4. It’s the little things that make a big difference
  5. Guide your visitors

Seems so simple doesn’t it… it is though you know.

The Web Is For Everyone

Interesting artlcle from Katie Ledger at BBC Click about accessibility on the web.

For millions, the home office has become a reality that allows us to benefit from flexible working; online shopping is simple, and I cannot even remember the last time I stepped into a real bank. In theory it is all very simple. But stop and think for a moment. If you could not see the screen, use a mouse or a standard
keyboard, how much of a challenge would it be to stay connected?

It’s amazing the little things you take for granted.

Introducing Simon

Simon

Some of you may know, some of you may not, but Simon Calderbank joined us on Monday.

Simon takes on the role of Client Services Director as we look to increase our levels of customer service to deliver more and more comprehensive solutions.

Craig Killick commented on Simon joining:

We are a service business first and foremost. It’s the most important area of our business and the conduit between us and our clients. Our service offering has been transformed with the web and the greater needs of business so we know our product is good. Simon joins us to enhance our levels of service for existing and new clients as we look to expand the business over the coming years.

The fact that he is a Manc and a Red was a hurdle but we got over that one. He’s a great guy with a great personality and I have no doubt he will transform our levels of customer service.

I am sure we can pursuade Simon to introduce himself through the Blog over the coming few days.

IE7 Has Landed!

Ie7_1
"Lorks-a-Lordy!" (or something to
that effect), cried one of my colleagues this morning when we found out that the
long-awaited IE7 had been released.  After much buzz and discussion amongst
the web fraternity it has finally arrived.

Microsoft have taken all our comments about poor security and difficulty of use
(compared to other browsers) and apparently addressed these issues with this
new version of the popular browser.

Will it be better than its predecessor?  Will it be able to match Firefox
and of course the soon to be released Firefox 2?  Who knows? It will certainly be interesting to see if
Microsoft can claw back any of the defectors who left IE for the increasingly
popular mozilla-based browser.

Check out IE7 here.

Give Me Back My Google

Gmbmg

Great idea here - www.givemebackmygoogle.com. Google without all the shopping sites like Kelko and Bizrate, etc.

You actually have more chance of finding what you want.
