Yahoo: The suit charges that Target’s website ( http://www.target.com ) is inaccessible to the blind, and therefore violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the California Unruh Civil Rights
Act, and the California Disabled Persons Act. Target asked the court to dismiss the action by arguing that no law requires Target to make its website accessible. The Court denied Target’s motion to dismiss and held that the federal and state civil rights laws do apply to a website such as target.com.

If you already have a web site, yes it may be time consuming and costly to rebuild it accessibly. If you are starting from scratch, there is really no excuses anymore. Want to know more about accessible websites?
First off, apologies if you are, but if you’re not, perhaps the recent report from Knowledgestorm will convince you to.
In short, the study shows that 81% of all the participants read blogs, 30.5% of which use RSS feeds to keep upto date with them and 53% say that the blogs they read have an impact on their work-related purchasing decisions.
Now those are some big numbers.
With 52% spending 1-5 hours reading information supplied by RSS, if you start blogging today, you might find yourself talking to a much bigger audience tomorrow.
Nice post here from Vitamin about the make-up of a designer. You could excuse it for being justification for being quite anal but it does ring true.
Designers care… sometimes even too much… and sometimes about the wrong things… but, the more you arm them with the right information at the briefing stage, the more they get it right.
Design isn’t just about pretty pictures and layout (that most people think they can do themselves with Microsoft Clip art), it’s about research, styles, bigger picture cohesiveness (branding). It’s also about consistency at the nth degree. Type styles, sizes, colours, etc.
So you may need to excuse the need for them to wear strange clothes, listen to weird music, and in the case of The Escape, have a couple of designers fixated on The Hoff!
I am very surprised they missed the most important trait of a designer off…. They never do the tea run if they can help it!
If you needed a bit of proof that video and TV will be online one day and that you will be able to watch what you want, when you want it - even where you want to - see Amazons new offering - UNBOX.
Of course, the new media darling of the techie world wouldn’t want to miss out either - is this them throwing their hat in the ring as well?
This new addition to the already popular Google News tool allows you access to over 200 years of news articles from a huge selection of publications from across the world.
The system works just like the normal Google search but with the added feature of filtering the results by date and publication. There is also a function that allows you to see results in a timeline.
Some of the results generated can be a bit questionable, but for the most part this is another really useful research tool from the worlds favourite search engine.
