Viral 360?

VirginViral Marketing creates an easy, and inexpensive, way of reaching people around the globe very quickly. We have seen it today with Virgin’s Brilliant Music Quiz (you can download it here). We recieved it from eight different people today in the office.

Also, The X-Box 360 (kind of launched last week) has had an advert ‘banned’ yet it is available online. And it is great (well we think so anyway).

Now this may offend some people but we have the choice to look at it, or not. We also have the choice to send it to our friends. So what happens is the advertisers can be more risque with an online ‘viral’ campaign because if it offends, so what, you chose to see it.

As a viewer I love it and I will send it on, which is kind of the point. But I will already have decided who  I will send it to and who I won’t, so in that way we are all censoring the ads we send. If it offends, The recipient will blame me, not Microsoft. That’s why it works!

Talking of the X-Box, is it a coincidence that they have no stock or a very clever marketing ploy to create a frenzy of demand?
